This Privacy Policy explains how PLP Compass+™ ("Compass+") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Service at compassplus.thedutchmentor.com. Compass+ is operated by Walter Dusseldorp, doing business as The Dutch Mentor.

Compass+ is a manager-facing product. The license holder ("you") is the manager or organization that creates teams. The team members whose names and ratings you enter ("team members") do not have their own accounts and do not directly interact with Compass+.

Information you provide as the license holder

• License key — issued by Gumroad upon purchase.
• Team roster — for each team member: name, role, tenure, your performance and potential ratings (1–3 each), your free-text notes about them.
• North Star goals — up to 5 organizational priorities you define.
• Team name (optional).

Important: data about your team members

When you enter information about your direct reports into Compass+, that information is processed by our AI engine (Anthropic Claude) to generate Individual Development Plans. The team member's name, role, and your ratings are sent to Anthropic for analysis. Anthropic processes this data per their API terms and does not use it to train models.

You — the manager — are responsible for ensuring you have an appropriate basis to enter this data into a third-party tool. In most employment contexts, talent reviews and IDP creation are within the manager's normal scope. We recommend you check with your organization's HR or compliance team if you are uncertain.

We strongly encourage you to consider the data minimization principle: enter only the information necessary for Compass+ to generate a useful IDP. Avoid entering protected-class information (age, race, religion, disability status, family status) in the notes field. Compass+ does not require or use any of these.

What we do NOT collect

• We do not collect the team member's email, phone, or other direct contact information.
• Team members are not given accounts or notified by Compass+.
• We do not access your HRIS or any internal systems.
• The Compass+ AI is explicitly instructed not to infer protected-class attributes.

How we use this information

• To generate one Individual Development Plan per team member.
• To compute aggregate Box 9 distribution and retention risk for the Rollup view (visible only to you).
• To verify your license.
• To send you transactional emails (purchase confirmation, quarterly re-run reminders).

Sharing

Same third parties as Compass: Anthropic (AI generation), Cloudflare (hosting), Gumroad (payment), and your chosen email service for transactional emails. We do not sell your data to anyone.

Data retention

• Team rosters, North Star goals, and generated IDPs — retained for the duration of your active license + 90 days.
• License verification cache — 7 days.
• Anonymized aggregate usage — retained indefinitely for product improvement.

Your rights and your team members' rights

As the license holder, you can request access, correction, or deletion of any team data you have entered by emailing info@thedutchmentor.com. We respond within 5 business days.

If a team member contacts us directly to request information or deletion of data about them, we will route the request to you (the license holder) for verification and response, consistent with the structure where the license holder is the data controller and we are the data processor.

AI disclosures

Compass+ uses artificial intelligence (Anthropic Claude) to generate Individual Development Plans. AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies. The IDPs and manager copy lines are recommended starting points for manager-employee development conversations, not substitutes for the manager's own judgment about their team. The license holder is responsible for the quality and appropriateness of how IDPs are used in actual employment decisions.

Compliance note

Compass+ is designed not to be a "consequential employment decision" tool under emerging US state laws (Colorado, Illinois, New York) regulating AI in employment. Compass+ generates development recommendations that the manager reviews, edits, and chooses to use or not. Compass+ does not make employment decisions; managers do.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated by email to active license holders. The "Last updated" date reflects the latest revision.
